How Restore from Storage Snapshots Works

For restore operations, Veeam Backup & Replication uses a copy of the volume snapshot, not the volume snapshot itself.

Performing Instant VM Recovery
 Veeam backup portal:-
1)      Open the Home view, In the inventory pane, Choose the storage infrastructure tab.  In the working area, expand the storage and select the respective storage where VM resides on it.
2) Right-side view, choose a date and select the VM that you want to restore, and click Instant VM Recovery on the ribbon.
 3)      Right-click the VM that you want to restore and select Instant VM recovery.
4) Select Restore to a new location, or with different settings if you want to restore the VMs to a different location and/or with different settings. If you select this option, the Instant Recovery wizard will include additional steps for customizing the VMs settings.
 5)      In the Restored VM name field, enter a name under which the recovered VM must be registered. For example, VM-restored.
6)      At the Restore Reason step of the wizard, enter a reason for performing Instant VM Recovery.
7)      At the Summary step of the wizard, specify additional settings for Instant VM Recovery.
8)      Please uncheck below two check box
1)     Connect VM to network
2)     Power on VM automatically.
9)      Check Instant VM Recovery settings and click restore.
 10)   Once finish the job without error. VM is created at vCenter.
11)   currently running Instant VM Recovery sessions are displayed in the Home view, under the Instant Recovery node.
12)   After the VM has been successfully recovered. you can finalize Instant VM Recovery in one of two ways:
1) Migrate the restored VM to the production environment
 2) Unpublish the recovered VM
To migrate a recovered VM to the production environment:

1)      Open the Home view.
2)      In the inventory pane, select the Instant Recovery node.
3)      In the working area, right-click the VM and select Migrate to production. Veeam Backup &                            Replication will launch the Quick Migration wizard
4)      During migration, Veeam Backup & Replication will restore the VM from the backup file and additionally move all changes that were made while the VM was running from the backup in the Instant Recovery mode.

Note:
When you pass through the Quick Migration wizard, enable the Delete source VM files upon successful migration option. Veeam Backup & Replication will restore the VM to production and automatically stop the Instant VM recovery session. If you do not enable this option, the Instant VM recovery session will still be running, and you will need to unpublish the recovered VM manually.

Unpublishing Instantly Restored VMs:

1)      If you have disabled the Delete source VM files upon successful migration option in the Quick Migration settings, you must unpublish the VM manually. After you unpublish the VM, the Instant Recovery session will end and the recovered VM will be unmounted from the vPower NFS server. The migrated VM will remain in the production environment.
To unpublish a recovered VM:
1)      Open the Home view.
2)      In the inventory pane, select the Instant Recovery node.
3)      In the working area, right-click the VM and select Stop publishing.
